Our Top 100 Tracks of 2018
2018 turned out to be a bit of a rollercoaster with music. We felt the tragic passing of some true greats (Scott Hutchison, Aretha Franklin, Mac Miller to name a few), but with the losses we did have along with them some fantastic gains. At Tens, our music tastes are admittedly a bit all over the place. Not one musical genre can be classed as our favourite, but we're open-minded, and anything is worth fighting over the Sonos for. Selections tend to range from '90s dance classics, Ethiopian jazz, old video game soundtracks... However, surprisingly not much of that has been released in 2018... In this playlist we've put together our top 100 releases from this year in alphabetical order. So please follow and enjoy nearly 7 hours' worth of our favourites!

Even though the leaves are falling, it's still Summer here at Tens HQ, no matter what the temperature's telling us.So, to keep the Summer vibe alive, we've pulled together the best of music, good news, and beer in this issue of Best of the Month. Enjoy! Best of the Web It's a chick! Two male penguins entrusted with the care of a fostered egg have welcomed a tiny sub-Antarctic chick into the world! The same-sex parents Magic & Sphen are doing well at their home in the Sydney Sea Life Aquarium. Scottish craft beer charity Brewgooder launched their Honesty Box this month. Starting at just 1p, they're asking how much you'd pay for a case of beer... that will change a life. Read more on their mission and check out their beer on their website HERE. Trent Siggard is a drone pilot who built a custom aerial instant camera machine. Read more about the 'Instax Drone' and view the results on Peta Pixel HERE. This photographer made a camera lens out of an ICEBERG! Speaking of icebergs, did you see this HUGE rectangular slab that was captured by NASA last month? Finally, if you thought your pumpkin carving was good, check out these beauties from the NASA jet propulsion laboratory pumpkin carving contest. Sooo we just checked and we're exactly two thirds of the way through 2018... It's okay though because at Tens it's summer FOREVER, and we're still chilling by the pool so grab a towel and an icy drink to sip on. August has been full of wonderful stuff, and we've put together some of it right here for you to consume with your summer cocktail of choice. Enjoy! Best of the Web "Hey Google, tell me something good." Google assistant now delivers that GOOD news to broadcast a wee bit of hope within your home / office. Because it's not ALL bad. The New York Public Library is ingeniously using Instagram stories to share classic novels. The design is so well thought out, and they include animated slides! Go check out the first highlight on Alice in Wonderland over on their Instagram page. Scotland just became the first country in the world to offer free sanitary products for all students, following a new initiative to help banish period poverty. Lego unveils sustainable bricks made from sugarcane as brand continues eco overhaul. We're pretty sure they're still not edible though, unfortunately. This one's pretty self explanatory... it's called Swimply and it's like Airbnb for swimming pools! A company called 'Plastic Whale' in Amsterdam is now offering canal boat tours with a catch (literally). As part of the tour, you take part in plastic fishing for litter in the canal. It's half-way through summer, the global heatwave is hitting us good and we're still drunk by the pool. It's a vibe. Here is a bunch of stuff we've found recently for you to look at, listen to and read about. Best of the Web Watch the unboxing of a sealed 18 year old Apple iBook G3. This baby had a whopping 6GB of hard drive space 😂 In Russia it’s illegal to display the LGBT pride flag. So during the World Cup these 6 football fans formed a hidden rainbow flag with their football jerseys, to protest Russia’s discriminatory laws in plain sight. Check out The Hidden Flag for more. Two giant hands seem to suspend a golden pedestrian bridge which recently opened at the Bà Nà Hills mountain resort just outside of the city of Da Nang, Vietnam. The 500-foot bridge rests in two outstretched palms which have been weathered with cracks and moss to give the appearance of age. Wingsuit Pilot Luke Rogers and fellow wingsuiter Chris Byrnes dive into an epic cloud cave on their jump with Skydive Ramblers in Toogoolawah, Australia. The clocks have adjusted, the days are getting much longer and that means sunglasses season is here! Despite tundra-like conditions hitting our small country this month, winter is technically over! Grandfather becomes Spain's oldest Erasmus student. He is 80 years old, has suffered a heart attack and quadruple bypass, but this month, Miguel Castillo will head off to start a new semester as an Erasmus student in Italy. This flooded river in Bonito, Brazil turns a somewhat ordinary jungle path into a crystal clear underwater world. “Svart” from Norwegian architecture firm 'Snøhetta' is the first Arctic building to be built according to an energy standard where more renewable energy is produced over its lifetime in total than would be required to build, sustain daily operations, and demolish the building. Best of the Month - Vol. 10
Is may be too late to say happy new year, and we know we're a bit late on this month's instalment - but we've been busy! The Tens team has just returned from beautiful Lithuania where we were shooting our 2018 campaign at a studio in the country's capital. All indoors of course, the -15ºC climate outside wasn't particularly suitable for a sunglasses shoot. Alas, we found some time amongst preparing for what's set to be our most ambitious campaign yet, to share some of our favourite STUFF over the past month. Find the usual music, stories & feeds below to get you through the week. Enjoy! Best of the Web Oscar-nominated stop-motion animator PES just released three new super-short films. They feature fishing, some still life fruit and this one below of a Nikon zoom lens being smashed through primes to just a cap. Check them out on his YouTube channel here. This Wes Anderson inspired cafe 'Budapest' has opened its doors in Changdu, China. It was imagined by Australian design studio Biasol. Photography tech company Kodak announced that they'll be releasing its own photographer-oriented blockchain cryptocurrency used for payments for licensing photographs. It's called KODAKCoin! Russian photographer Slava Semeniuta captured these abstracted street puddles in Sochi. The series of dramatically-colored photographs isolates neon shop window reflections in puddles and potholes and transforms the captured moments into otherworldly landscapes. Check out more of his work here. Whilst we're on other-worldly photography, Tom Blachford's 'Nihon Noir' series looks like it was taken straight out of Blade Runner.
